For the Guys

Every guy should read Lust-Free Vision from Breakaway, by Focus on the Family. At the bottom of the page, the author included a four week Bible Reading Plan to help us in this vital area.

Remember, the idea is to fix our eyes on something more desirable, namely, Jesus. And we can only be pure by His grace as we take heed according to His Word.

Grace and Peace.

This article is not just a call to avoid "the lusts of the eyes," but also a call to fix our focus on spiritual things. (Mainly, the Cross). The theme of this article can be summed up in a word. Focus. This is fast becoming one of my favorite words to think about because of the series of thoughts that follow. "Focus on what?" The Cross. In no way am I claiming to have mastered focusing my thoughts on the cross and what it means for me and the people around me, but as I think about this concept of focusing on the cross, more and more things seem to apply. Focus on the cross and your sin is disgusting. Focus on the cross and the forgiveness God grants through it. Focus on the cross and the message that is for all people. If I could only get into the habit of thinking like this more often! I admit these are not any of my own personal thoughts and new revelations, but rather a paragraph summary of C.J. Mahaney's book, LIVING THE CROSS CENTERED LIFE.(as those of you that have read it have probably already figured out.) Anyway I just wanted to agree with Pastor Rob and say that this article was right on in reminding all of us to center our lives around the meaning of the cross.
